It is so much easier to resort to violence than sympathy, but this only goes to show how much stronger Shooter is. Dead Master turns violent towards Shooter; in contrast, whatever the apple did here amplified some need of Shooter's, as well as her self-sacrificing nature- and the result is harming herself. Dead Master would rather have Shooter hurt her than herself, but pain to her is so much more manageable than seeing the most important person to her self-inflict pain.
