Then again, it depends on your definition of strength as well. Do you want to you prove how strong you are because you can kill them or do you want to prove how strong willed you are by not killing them?

Maybe they think the reason you have is actual weak willed. There are many reasons to leave someone alive, but the reason has to be good enough as well.

For me? If it means I get to play with them longer, they live. Killing for no reason is actually weaker.

Afraid I can't answer that question, there's no one important enough for me to care for and even if there was they'd best be able to take care of themselves.
